Progress

Here are a few updated pictures of Project #1

First of all, that terribly built wall had to come down!

And so did the awful closet!  Time to bust out my handy-dandy sawsall.  Hooray!
Yep, this guy and I, long time lovers.  We've been through many projects together.
I wanted planked walls for that farm house feel.  That's my hubby-hard at work.  He loves me.
And if you look to the left of the stairs, that's where the closet used to be.  See how much better and open it looks without it?  I will replace it with a built-in bookshelf.
Look how nice it is coming along!!!

 Getting the trim up
Not quite sure what kind of lighting to put in yet
This little closet will soon house a build-in dresser.

We worked on the caulking and filling in nail holes this week.  Mike also got the cubby spaces taped and mudded.  We should be ready for paint next week.  It's hunting season, so we aren't making as much progress as I would like, but he sure works hard, so he deserves to play hard too!

Project #1

Project #1
THE MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom is a converted attic space.  It has sloped ceilings, cubby storage and an attached office/sitting room.

Here are the before pics.  It's a tad bid scary. There is SO much work to be done. I'm beginning to wonder what we have gotten ourselves into!

The short wall you see to the right is the wall around the stairway.
This is the view from the office into the bedroom
Looking into the bedroom. Closet and south facing window
This is another closet at the top of the stairs.  It is really not functional due to the location, however.

Another view of the closet.  As you can see, it is right at the top of the stairs.  Not an ideal place, especially in an office/sitting area.

A fine little farm house

I have always dreamed I would live in an old farm house.
I stalk people who live in them.  I really do.  You can often find me sitting in my car across the street from beautiful old homes staring hopelessly in love at them. I even take pictures.  Yep.  I am a stalker.

I live in the country, therefore, I should own a farm house.
I love everything primitive, everything country, I have lots of farm animals and my daughter is a proud member-officer actually, of the FFA, and that means I really should own a farm house.
Right?   Right!

Well.....now I kinda do!
Here's the story.

A few months ago we decided to go house hunting.  Actually, I have been on the hunt for a few years, but it was time to get serious.
You would think that living in the country, one might find a nice little old farm house for sale, right? Nope. NO. SUCH. LUCK!
Nope, none.
Not a one.
Damnit!

Okay, fine, we can look at other homes.  But I will hate them.  I will hate every single house you show me.
And I did!
Until....
One day after looking at a house I hated, we passed by one that I didn't hate so much.  I didn't like it enough to look at it though....yet.
But a few days later I drove by it again, and guess what?  I still didn't hate it!
So, Realtor Robert got us in.  Was it love at first sight?  Nope.  But I knew I was going to buy it.
It has potential.  Lots of potential.

It has lots of land for my happy little chickies, bunnies and goats to play. And it's an older farm style home.
Is it my dream house?  No.  Can it be?  Possibly.  But it is a place where I can happily raise my family, and like I said, it has potential!
Let the fun begin!

A little lovin' part 2

Remember that darling armoire and end table redo I posted about a while back?  Well, I finally found a bed that matched up pretty darn close.
I wanted it to be an antique white, since it is going in my new little farm house (more on that adventure later!).
Anyway, check out the awesome transformation.

Yes, I realize this "after" pic isn't the best.  I really thought I had a better pic before I started the post.  I will be sure to add a better one in later.  You really must see it upright to appreciate it's full beauty.  It's simply AMAZING!

I'm baaaaack!

I'm back!  Yes, I realize it's been a year.  What can I say, I've been busy making great things even better!  Hahaha.   So, about a year ago, before the birthday party, I believe we left off with the trailer remodel.  WELL.......I will get to that soon ;)
I also need to update you on our latest project-another house!  Phew, I'm tellin' ya, it's busy around these parts!
So much to talk about and so much to show you.  Lets chat soon.

SURPRISE!

Surprise!  Or not. Okay, who told?  Yeah, she wasn't really surprised, but she had a great time.  Here are a few pics from the Sweet 16 shindig.  We had a HUGE turnout and I was so busy mingling, that I forgot to take pictures-GASP!  Dangit.  Thankfully we got a few pics, but lots and lots of great memories.

Some things never change

This is one time that I hope my daughter isn't listening.  Or reading.

She has a birthday coming up.   The BIG one, her Sweet 16.  Crazy.  And no, no I'm NOT old enough to have a teenager!

Don't tell her, but I am throwing her a SURPRISE party!  Shhhh......

I love to throw parties.  Especially the surprise kind.  And I am VERY excited about this!

I have been working my behind off (I wish!) making all the decorations and planning the fun.  Eeeeek, I LOVE it SO much!

Although I LOVEAME some vintage decor, it just isn't much her style, so I am going all out Alixx style and using a more unique/crazy theme of zebra print and hot pink with a touch of silver.  I must admit, I really like it and it's been quite fun.  I'll be posting pictures soon.

Tonight I was looking for a few more ideas for decor (THANKS PINTEREST!) and stumbled across this great picture from the 1950's (My FAV).

It's funny how some things never really change.  Children's parties have always been a big deal, as they should be.  I love it!

I wonder if it's too late to change the theme?  I like the circus, LOL!
So, if any of my friends/family are reading this.....just remember, my birthday is in December ;)  Teeheehee!
